"Arrival" by Jordan Hawkins
“Arrival” is an exciting piece for high school band that features the range of emotion and dexterity of the ensemble. The A section is celebratory and features the woodwinds and brass separately, culminating in a full ensemble climax and transition. The contrasting B section is lush and warm while remaining optimistic in tone. This provides a moment of peaceful enthusiasm. The A section is then repeated and the piece ends with a triumphant coda that brings all the thematic material to a thrilling conclusion.
