Jeffery Eastman’s “Shanty Scenes” is the second part of a series of band compositions based on 18th and 19th Century whaling, or shanty, tunes. After a festive opening, “Cape Cod Girls”, our musical voyage pauses at a bustling port, A’ Rovin”, continues through the calm latitudes, stops at the majestic capitals and is swept to a storm tossed conclusion. Shanty Scenes provides an extended alla breve experience for the intermediate ensemble. You and your band will love this piece!
