“Down Marilyn Drive” is a light concert piece for bands grade 1. It should give the listener the feeling of taking a stroll down a country road. The score is set up with all parts (minus percussion) doubled. This give the director with smaller bands and limited instrumentation the opportunity to play this song without any gaps in the parts. This, of course, gives a band a real chance to sound full and experience true success. The rhythms are pretty straight forward except for some 8th note 16th note combinations and an occasional 5/4 measure to challenge the students with counting. “Down Marilyn Drive” is very versatile for its level. A great piece for success for bands of many sizes and instrumentation.
