“Moonrise” is a mysterious, hauntingly beautiful and at times grandiose piece from Thomas Juzwiak which deeply explores many of the wonderful sonorities available from a wind band. Written for an advanced middle school or emerging high school, the ranges are very modest. The 1st Clarinet does go over the break to the “C” a couple of times and the flutes play in “Divisi” for some of the song. A great selection to quickly change the mood of any concert performance. “Moonrise” paints a striking visual of the still mostly unknown moon which orbits our planet. You will love this selection and so will your band.
