"Opus Optima"
       by Thomas Juzwiak, ASCAP

"Opus Optima," composed by Thomas Juzwiak, ASCAP, and published by Warming Sun Music Publishing, is an electrifying addition to the concert band repertoire. Renowned for his dynamic compositions, Juzwiak delivers a fast-paced and thrilling work that is as engaging to play as it is to hear.

The piece begins with a stately, majestic introduction, setting the stage for what’s to come. With a dramatic four-count from the percussion, the band launches into a driving new tempo. Artfully syncopated melodies are supported by precisely articulated straight eighth notes, creating a compelling rhythmic foundation.

A slower, expressive middle section provides a brief respite before the tempo accelerates once again, propelling the piece toward its exhilarating conclusion. Throughout, the percussion section plays a vital role, with the timpani and snare drum driving the energy of the piece. The xylophone part presents a rewarding challenge for performers, adding another layer of excitement to the composition.
