Composer's note: “The Elms of Cranbury” is a nice, slow, solemn piece, for advanced middle school or emerging high school level players, it gives the students a chance to practice blend, balance, intonation and control. An ever so slight pick up in tempo towards the middle will help move this piece along, ending at the original solemn pace. Written to celebrate the Elm trees of Cranbury, New Jersey, this composition offers a “change of flavor” for any concert line up.
